Voice advice |
People make judgments about you just by listening to your voice. During face-to-face communication, the impact of your voice is approximately 38% of the overall impression you make. Over the phone, it jumps to 85% since there are no visual cues.
The best way to assess your own voice is to record yourself.
Based on the assessment, follow the tips below to make improvements:
- When on the phone, keep a smile on your face when you talk. Your voice will reflect the smile.
- Have an appropriate expression - Sound enthusiastic, or, when needed, alter your tone to fit the conversation.
- Speak slowly enough that people understand you easily
- Pause - By pausing, you give people enough time to take in what you are saying.
- Eliminate fillers such as "uh," "um," "OK" and "you know."
- Speak loud enough to be easily heard. Speaking in a whisper is non-assertive and can be annoying.
- Control your breathing when you get nervous or excited. It helps to lower your pitch, making you sound more credible.

Presidential primary elections |
The series of Presidential primary elections is one of the first steps in the process of electing the President of the United States of America. The primary elections are run by state and local governments.
A state primary election usually determines which candidates for president will be supported by that state’s delegates at the national convention of each political party. The actual Presidential election will take place on November 4, 2008.
Primary elections are conducted by government on behalf of the parties. Elsewhere in the world, the nomination of candidates is usually the responsibility of the political party organizations themselves and does not involve the general public. The primary elections for this year’s Presidential election are being conducted between January 3, 2008 to June 5, 2008. |
