★The Top Dog

top为形容词，表"最上方的"，the top dog 的字面意思即"在最上位的狗"。例：罗杰是老板的心腹爱将，老板对他充分授权，全公司上上下下全听他的。这时可以这样说：Roger is the top dog here, so he calls all the shots.（罗杰是这里的老大，所以全由他发号施令。）
